Welcome to Sutton Bonington Primary School

Dear parents/carers,

As you now will know, we are closed for the majority of children in school.  We are all missing the children deeply and school certainly isn't the same without them.  The staff are working diligently to provide childcare for the children who have critical workers as parents and also for children who are considered vulnerable. This childcare is likely to continue through the Easter Vacation.  If you are a critical worker or your child is vulnerable, the school will have contacted you to offer you this childcare.  The most recent advice explained the importance of:

Staying at home where possible

  • Only going outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home)
  • Staying 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
  • Washing your hands as soon as you get home

For the children who are at home, as I explained in my letter on March 18th, parents were given 2 days of work to be done on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th March and activities have been signposted by the teaching staff on the website under class pages.  All of this work is now live and can be accessed by clicking on the links. This work will also be sent to you via email.  This work is intended to be commenced from Wednesday 25th March onwards. At this stage, please complete the activities on the set days if you can to help you with establishing structure at this difficult time. You should have been given a blank exercise book in which to complete this work.  This format will likely continue through the W/B 30th March and then there will be no work set for the Easter Vacation (W/B 6/4 and 13/4).  The staff are currently looking into signing up to a learning platform which would improve the ability of the teachers/teaching assistants to communicate to the children.  I will be writing to you this week to explain how this may work.  If you are having difficulties accessing any of the links/not receiving the email, please contact the school office (office@suttonbonington.notts.sch.uk) so we can provide assistance.

Best wishes.,

Lee Shilton (Headteacher).
